Basic Safe Cooking in Australia: Using a Stove and Oven

Safe cooking is an essential skill and it starts with knowing how to safely use your kitchen appliances like your stove and oven.
 
Stove Safety: 
– Turn knobs off when not in use. 
– Use the right size pot or pan. 
– Keep tea towels away from burners .
 
Try This: Scrambled Eggs 
1. Crack 2 eggs into a bowl.

2. Whisk with some milk.

3. Pour into a pan and cook on a medium heat.

4. Stirring gently until cooked and fluffy. 
 
Oven Safety: 
– Preheat before use. 
– Use oven mitts. 
– Keep the door closed while cooking. 
 
Try This: Baked Chicken 
1. Place chicken in a tray with veggies.

2. Season with salt and pepper.

3. Put in oven and bake at 180°C for 25–30 minutes.

4. Take the chicken out of the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. 

5. Cut into the chicken and ensure it is cooked all the way through.  
 
Clean-Up Tip: 
– Let the oven cool, then wipe spills. 
– Wash pans with warm soapy water.
