Build the Future

SU Qld had successfully built a strong corporate database through the Frontline Appeal and was looking for new fundraising avenues. Capacity Builders stepped in to develop a strong link between the building industry and SU’s Connect program for at-risk youth – particularly as many of these teenagers leave school to become trade apprentices.

The inaugural 'Build the Future' fundraising dinner saw 500 tradies unite at the Brisbane Convention Centre to support Queensland's at-risk youth. Aussie '90s rock legend, Diesel, was a major drawcard and, combined with a significant auction and raffle, a substantial amount was raised for the Connect program.

Capacity Builders played an integral role in positioning Build the Future to be a strong connection between SU Qld and the building industry. There is enormous potential for ongoing sponsorship, fundraising events and apprenticeships/ mentoring for at-risk youth.
